Janardhan Gambira is a bad-tempered landlord. His wife Santha “Shaku” and brother Eknath live in Kamrottu, a village in the state of Karnataka. Aparna’s brother has come to the village with his two children Mohanchandra and Munna. Aparna is known as “Panna” and Munna as “Munna”. Vishwanath tells Janardhan that Panna is engaged to Rakesh, but Janardhan denies as the house is haunted. During their discussion, Vishwanath explains to Janardhan how Panna is engaged to Rakesh and plans to get married in the Kamarottu house in which they were born. This is because his son Sanjeev, also known as “Sanju”, managed to steal gems from the village temple 28 years ago.
Sanju leaves London for the farm in the middle of the night, when Panna welcomes him. Together they find the headless body of a police officer named Suresh Krishna in the well of the house. Inspector Vikrant Rona travels to the village after the disaster to investigate. While he is there, an attempt is made on his life, but he is able to avoid capture. After assuming command, Vikrant travels to the Kamrottu residence, where after searching the well, he finds the dead police officer’s wallet, containing a Rs 1 note. Vikrant travels to the jungle in an attempt to find those responsible for the crime. Once there, he faces a second attempt on his life, but is able to overpower his opponents and drive them off.

The film earned a total of thirty five crores on the first day of its release. It was said that the Hindi version earned more money on its first day than the Hindi dubbed versions of Vikram, 777 Charlie, Beast and Valimai. The Hindi language version collected a total of Rs 1 crore. On the first day of release, the Telugu version grossed a total of two crores. It was claimed that the second day earnings of the Hindi version in NR zone was higher than the second day earnings of Vikram in North India. The earnings of the Hindi version were in the amount of seventy five lakhs.
It was declared that the film earned between 55 to 60 crores in just two days from all its versions. The worldwide collection during 3 days was expected to be between 80 to 85 crores. The fourth-day weekend collection was claimed by the Indian Express to be 95 crores, while The Times of India believed it was somewhere in the range of 105 crores.
