Rohit was the native of picture stuntman Madhu B Shetty and Ratna Shetty, a junior Bollywood star performer. Originally in Mangalore, he was raised along with his four sisters and two brothers. As a child, he used to watch films and since then made up his mind to become a helmer. He attended St. Mary’s School till the age of seventeen and later entered the film industry as an assistant to Kuku Kohli.
Rohit Shetty’s father was a struggling and popular villain of the 70s, hence he was also known as Fighter Shetty. Rohit’s father died when he was only seven years old. After this incident his family was in great trouble and hence his mother went to Amitabh Bachchan for help and he helped. Recently he is hosting the real life program Khatron Ke Khiladi.
Shetty made his directorial debut in 2003 with the movie Zameen. He came into limelight when he directed the 2006 comedy movie Golmaal: Fun Unlimited which had a long star cast like Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi. In 2008, he managed his third movie Sunday starring Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Ayesha Takia. Sunday was a comic thriller picture. His second project in 2008 was Golmaal Returns, a follow-up to Golmaal.
